THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW P2M SYSTEM

PART 1 | WE'VE LISTENED - GATHERING FEEDBACK ON THE P2M SYSTEM

CHALLENGES

CALIBRATION

HOW TO CALIBRATE A SILENT SUBWOOFER?

The main challenge with calibration is the lack of research in how sound travels through human body and what the transfer function looks like.

To address this we'll conduct empiric research using G.R.A.S., Dewesoft and RME lab equipment for gathering and processing data acquired from test subject.

Any idea (or researched we might have missed) on how to do that with best possible results can be shared in the form below.

REALLY SILENT

HOW QUIET SHOULD IT BE?

Obviously the open back headphones are the best option option for the aural part of the system. They leak and that's not something we think needs to be addressed.

Tactile transducer also have some leak. Depending a lot on how the low pass filter is set and the surface to which it's mounted. Essentially turning it into a membrane.

The burning question is how much vibration is still ok and where is the best compromise between silence and great tactile (haptic) audio experience.

Share your ideas and thoughts below.

EXTREME COMFORT

HOW DOES IT FIT?

One of the biggest issues with the Mk I BSE pillow is the fact it's small (gives it portability) and due to that, makes is uncomfortable to lean on to for longer sessions.

How to create a system that translates vibrations with reasonable small distortions but keeps the comfort at the highest level.

Even more, how to make it simple to mount on a chair?

Share your ideas and experience below. Thanks.

TACTILE EXPERIENCE

Our ears are not the best at hearing low rumble. Our body acts as a receiver too. When the information from our ears is joined with the one from our body, the full sound experience is created.

We are researching how to improve the Mk I model. On this page we gather and share information on the development process.

Testimonials on the MK I model

The OLLO Audio PLAY2ME system is my favorite headphone monitoring system. The headphones sound amazing and with the silent subwoofer I can feel every bit of the low end without blasting it on the mains. I use it on every mix.”

The PLAY2ME cushion and preamp have been very useful tools for checking mixes but have also been inspiring creative tools. I’ve used the cushion a lot for writing, especially low end synth parts. It’s a nice way to gauge where you are energy wise in the song.
