OLLO Audio partners with The Blackbird Academy

A collaboration built around honest monitoring, hands-on learning, and the decisions that make a mix translate.

The Blackbird Academy Professional School of Audio is based inside the world-renowned Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. It offers programmes in Studio Engineering and Live Sound Engineering, with hands-on training built around real rooms, real gear, and working industry professionals.

Their Studio Engineering programme is a six-month programme that drops the fluff and concentrates on the skills students need to put them to work right away. Students have access to Blackbird Studio’s legendary microphone and gear collection, and spend half of their time learning from industry professionals in the very studios that have made Blackbird Studio home to countless hit records.

For OLLO Audio, that kind of environment matters.

We build headphones for people who need their monitoring to tell the truth. Not flatter the mix. Not hype the low end. Not make everything feel finished before the work has actually been done.

The X1 was designed as a mixing and producing studio headphone, with calibrated frequency response, serviceable parts, and a 5-year limited warranty. It is built for people who need to make confident decisions — in the studio, at the desk, or wherever the work continues.

That is why we are proud to welcome The Blackbird Academy as one of our new partners.

When students are learning how to record, mix, listen, judge, adjust, and trust their decisions, headphones are not just accessories. They become part of the learning process. A good pair of mixing headphones should not simply make everything sound impressive. It should help reveal what is actually there, so the engineer can make better decisions along the way.

“Something that’s unpopular and unmarketable to engineering students and novices, is that a great pair of mixing headphones shouldn’t make everything immediately sound great. What we should be looking for in a set of monitors or headphones, is that they encourage us to make correct mixing decisions along the way.

When you achieve a great sounding mix on a set of OLLO X1’s, you get the almost surreal experience of your mix translating and sounding great everywhere. We are pleased to be able to offer that resource to The Blackbird Academy’s students as part of OLLO’s Student Program.”

Translation is not magic. It is the result of decisions made in the right direction, again and again. The better your reference, the less you have to guess. And when you are still learning, that matters even more.

The Blackbird Academy teaches students inside professional environments, with access to the rooms, tools, and people behind serious audio work. OLLO X1 headphones now become part of that path, supporting students as they train their ears, build confidence, and learn how to make mixes that hold up beyond one room, one system, or one lucky playback moment.

We are proud to support The Blackbird Academy through OLLO’s Student Program, and proud that the next generation of audio professionals will be making decisions on X1.

Good monitoring does not do the work for you.
It helps you hear the work clearly enough to do it right.
