Elevate Your Audio: Free MSC Calibration Upgrade for Legacy OLLO Headphones
If you've been part of the OLLO Audio family since the beginning, we have some exciting news. As part of our commitment to sustainability and product longevity, we're releasing a free calibration upgrade for all headphones released since 2018.
Whether you're rocking the original S4, the S4X (v1.0 - v1.2), or the S5X (v1.0), this upgrade is designed to bring your legacy gear up to our modern performance standards.

What is MSC (Model Specific Calibration)?
Originally, our legacy headphones were tuned using acoustics alone. While they sounded great, our development of Unit Specific Calibration (USC) in 2023 changed the game for newer models like the X1.
We wanted to bring that same professional edge to our long-time users — so we created MSC (Model Specific Calibration).
We wanted to bring that same professional edge to our long-time users — so we created MSC (Model Specific Calibration).
- MSC vs. USC: While USC is an individual file created for a specific serial number, MSC is an average profile built from thousands of measurements of a specific model over time.
- Built by OLLO: Unlike generic software solutions that extrapolate data in "mysterious ways," this is OLLO hardware paired with OLLO-made calibration.
- Acoustic Harmony: MSC follows the same flat frequency response target as the physical acoustics of your headphones. Instead of forcing the drivers to do something they weren't designed for, the software and acoustics work together for a more natural, accurate sound.
How to Get Your Free Upgrade
Ready to enhance your mixing experience? Follow these simple steps to install MSC:
- Visit the Downloads Page: Head over to the OLLO Audio website and navigate to the Downloads section.
- Locate the MSC Section: Look for the Model Specific Calibration row (usually the third row down).
- Download Your Files: Click on the MSC file that matches your headphone model and save it to your computer.
- Install the USC Plugin: Download the USC Plugin. Don't be confused by the name — this same software runs both USC and MSC files.
- Load into Your DAW: Run the installation wizard and refresh your plugin list in your DAW.
Pro Tips for Using Calibration
To get the most out of your newly calibrated headphones, keep these best practices in mind:
- The "Monitoring-Only" Rule: Always insert the plugin on your monitoring or headphone-only output.
- Avoid "Baking" the Mix: Don't place the plugin on your master bounce chain. You don't want to accidentally "bake" the calibration into your final export — it's meant for your ears only while mixing.
-
DSP Shortcuts: If you use a DSP-enabled interface (like RME, Motu, or Neumann), you can often apply the calibration settings directly to your audio interface hardware and bypass the plugin entirely.
Our Philosophy: We don't just care about the environment — we care about how our products are made, experienced, and repaired. This free upgrade is our way of making sure your OLLO headphones stay at the top of their game for years to come.
Stay safe and sound!
